A Focus on Material ESG Issues

Horizontal Wireline Services is committed to transparently assessing and prioritizing sustainability issues that matter most to our stakeholders and our industry. In line with this commitment, we assessed the topics most relevant to our business by conducting several materiality assessments in 2021 and 2022 as part of our foundational ESG management program As a result of our materiality assessment, the top five material issues facing our business and stakeholders are health & safety, business ethics, human capital development, risk management, and regulatory compliance, which are core facets and focus points for our business.

Innovating Safer Operations

Innovation remains at the core of our service model, as we leverage new technology and fleet electrification to assist our customers in decarbonizing their production processes, reducing water consumption, minimizing waste generation, improving safety, and enhancing operational efficiencies. Our commitment to pioneering and investing in technologies that improve safety and drive down costs for our customers while simultaneously mitigating environmental impact underscores our dedication to sustainable business practices.  Our deep focus on safety coupled with our emphasis on boosting efficiency and lowering costs allows us to continue to innovate with the end result being several innovations that we now offer alongside our wireline services:

Reducing Environmental Impact

Horizontal’s innovative operating culture drives the development of solutions that enhance efficiency, reduce emissions, and help customers and the oil & gas industry minimize the environmental impact and costs associated with hydrocarbon production. Our environmental strategy includes robust waste and pollution management programs, continuous improvements in water stewardship, and innovative technologies like ExT Lateral Solutions, which lower total completion costs and indirectly avoid emissions. Additionally, our EcoDrive wireline unit provides environmentally friendly trucks that reduce emissions, noise pollution, and hydraulic spill risks. These efforts exemplify our commitment to sustainability and leadership in the industry.

GHG Emissions

Internally, we emphasize the importance of evaluating and quantifying across scope 1 and scope 2 sources to understand and identify opportunities to reduce costs and emissions. In doing so, we have enabled efficiencies including decreasing fuel consumption due to investments in EcoDrive wireline units, improved monitoring of fleet idling, reducing diesel fuel combustion, and optimizing electricity use across our facilities.
